According to the leaks, both the Ecobee Premium and the Ecobee Enhanced will likely arrive soon.
Smart thermostats continue to be a great way to start building a smart home. And one of the major manufacturers, Ecobee, will soon be introducing two new models. We only know due to them leaking online a couple of different websites.
Leaks Detail the Ecobee Premium and Enhanced
The thermostats have apparently been detailed in a leak first reported by Zatz Not Funny.
The upcoming Ecobee Premium was spotted on the site of retailer Canadian Tire, while the Ecobee Enhanced was leaked on Reddit.
The Ecobee Premium Features an Air-Quality Monitor
Likely replacing the top-of-the-line SmartThermostat, the Ecobee Premium offers a new look compared to the previous model. It sports a flat metallic type of bezel. The UI has also seemingly been revamped.
But the major new feature seems to be a built-in air quality monitor to help you better gauge the air inside your home.
According to an image on the Canadian retailer’s site, air quality information will be shown on the thermostat and the companion app itself. The monitor will track carbon dioxide and VOCs inside the home.
Both of those pollutant levels are tracked by some of the best standalone air quality monitors and sensors for the home. And having an air quality monitor and smart thermostat in one package could be a strong way for Ecobee to differentiate its most expensive model.
Just like the previous model, the Premium thermostat will also offer voice control with both Amazon Alexa’s or Apple’s Siri to it into a number of smart home setups.
The Ecobee Enhanced Is an Ecobee3 Lite Replacement
Less is known about the Ecobee Enhanced as the Reddit leak only showed a new image of the smart thermostat.
But with the Premium at the top of the company’s offering, the Enhanced will likely take the place of the current Ecobee3 Lite. The image shows the same revamped UI found on the Premium.
It’s unknown when both thermostat models will arrive. But with the leaks, it will likely be soon.
Making a Great Thermostat Lineup Even Better
With support for two of the biggest smart home protocols, Ecobee’s smart thermostats have always been a strong alternative to the Google Nest.
And the Ecobee Premium and Enhanced seem to be a nice next step from the company and a great value proposition for anyone wanting to build a smart home and even save money at the same time from lower heating and air conditioning bills.
