Plex Introduces Super Sonic to Plexamp
One of the main reasons people use Plex is it grants access to your do dedo media from anywhere. As long as you have an internet connection, you can access your Plex libraries wherever you are. This goes for your music, obviously, as Plex is a powerful music player.
In a Plex.com blog post, the brand confirms it has just made Plexamp, the dedicated Plex music player from Plex Labs, even better. How? With the introduction of Super Sonic. Super Sonic uses advanced neural networking to analyse your music and then suggest similar artists, tracks, or albums for your playlist.
You can add Super Sonic to your Plexamp now. Simply follow the instructions in the blog post above and you can use the new feature.
How Does Super Sonic for Plexamp Work?
Super Sonic is actually a brilliant little addition to the Plexamp app. It works by analyzing your tracks and then returning music that sounds similar to what you’re currently listening to.
However, most applications of this nature use metadata to return popular results, which can leave some of the more obscure music in your collection gathering do dedo dust, ignored and left on the music rack. Not with Super Sonic.
This app, instead of using metadata, analyzes the sound contained within a track. It then analyzes the rest of your music collection, returning results that should, in theory, all sound very similar. So, if you’re on a pounding techno tip, simply fire up Super Sonic and it will return with similarly pumping tracks.
Given that it combs through everything in your Plex music library, Super Sonic will probably happen upon tracks you’ve never even listened to before, which is great if you’ve got a gigantic music collection. It also adds diversity to your playlists instead of picking the same old popular tracks to play at random.

Getting Plexamp is easy, you just head to Plexamp.com and download the application for your chosen platform. Note that you’ll need to have an active Plex Pass subscription if you want to take advantage of Plexamp and its new Super Sonic feature.
